HUNT.

One clear path from booking to camp to the trip home.

Plan Your Hunt · Step by step

Follow these steps from choosing your hunt through the trip home. Open a guide whenever you need the full details.

Booking your hunt

01

Research the fit

Review the cabin and tent camp packages, pricing, available weeks and frequently asked questions to see whether this hunt fits your group.

02

Request a call

Tell us your residency, experience, group size, preferred package and the weeks that interest you. We will arrange a time to talk.

03

Review your invoice

If the hunt is a fit, Wesley’s will send an invoice with the complete booking details and hold your selected dates for 14 days. Confirm your party, camp, dates and package in writing; name one group leader and share the inclusions and cancellation terms with everyone.

04

Pay the deposit

Pay the non-refundable deposit within the 14-day hold. Credit cards are accepted online; Ontario residents may e-transfer with the party name in the memo.

Travel Prep

05

Plan for cell coverage gaps

Plan fuel stops and border crossing, save offline directions, and set up iPhone satellite texting before the drive. Expect long stretches without cell service and decide how your group will bring meat home.

06

Reserve your Pickle Lake stay

Book the night before fly-out, check your group’s arrival plans and confirm the floatplane check-in instructions with Pickle Lake Airways.

07

Prepare border documents

U.S. citizens driving across the border should bring a valid U.S. passport book or passport card. A NEXUS card or U.S. enhanced driver’s licence may also be used for land travel. A regular driver’s licence or REAL ID alone is not enough. Check both Canadian entry and U.S. return requirements, then gather vehicle and firearm documents and keep everything accessible.

Hunt Prep

08

Gather and purchase gear

Use the lists for your camp, coordinate shared equipment and purchase what is missing. Assemble your complete group load before weighing it.

09

Weigh your complete load

Once every hunter has their gear and food ready, weigh each person and the full group load against the party limit on your invoice. Adjust the load before the flight if needed.

10

Pay your balance

The remaining balance is due July 1 of the year of your hunt. Review your invoice and arrange payment by that date.

11

Complete licences

Complete the Ontario licensing steps that apply to you and send Wesley’s an updated Licence Summary. Wait for tag confirmation before purchasing an assigned tag.

12

Tag validation and payment

In late August or early September, Wesley’s Outposts will validate outfitter-allocated moose tags and notify your group. Once notified, the hunter whose name is on a validated tag must pay the applicable moose tag fee directly to Ontario’s MNR. Ontario residents bring their own WMU 1C tags.

Flying to Camp

13

Check in with Pickle Lake Airways

Find the blue Pickle Lake Airways sign on Beach Road and report to the office when you arrive in town if you can. Exchange cell numbers with the flight coordinator so you can ask about weather or schedule changes. Unless Airways gives you another time, have your whole party there and ready at 8:00 a.m. Pickle Lake time on fly-out morning.

14

What to expect flying in on floats

Allow for weather delays, stage your complete load and follow the crew’s instructions for weighing, loading, boarding and arrival at camp.

During the Hunt

15

Cabin or Tent Camp

Choose the guide for your camp to review arrival, communication, camp systems and daily safety routines.

16

Equipment Tips

Check boats, motors, fuel, paddles and safety gear before heading out. Keep shared equipment organized throughout the week.

17

Hunting Tips

Review the camp-specific hunting guidance, tag requirements and safe communication plan before setting out.

18

Fishing Guide

Plan a simple walleye or pike setup for fishing during your hunt, and review the licence and lake rules.

19

Meat Handling

After a harvest, field-dress, cool and protect the meat promptly and coordinate transport with Wesley’s.

After the Hunt

20

Return Travel Tips

Pack and stage the group for pickup, keep licences and transport documents with the meat and maintain the cold chain on the drive home.

21

Mandatory Hunting Reports

Every moose licence holder must file the report that applies, including those who did not hunt or harvest. Check the deadline and filing method for your residency.
